I normaly hate these kind of post but....

Hi Im new and ive got a problem....

Right Ive been doing some searching and I have tried all the normal fixes and checked all the normal problems..

first of all both windows don't work with any of the switches no up no down nothing..

If I put the key in the door and unlock the car and hold the key they will go down and again if im locking the car if you hold the key they will close..

Ive tried a replacement drivers door switch and still had no joy. ive had both door panels off today and checked for broken wires on the drivers side between the switch the motor and the round multi plug and also checked the passengers side.

bar a dodgy speaker wire on the passengers side Ive found nothing!!

I even decided to check the rear door plugs even though I dont have rear electric windows and again bar a dodgy speaker wire im no further ahead ( well I do now have 4 speakers working )

so Im now at a loss and im looking for ideas...

Im going to rip the after market alarm out the car as It has full closure so im wondering if its maybe cut into the wires somewhere and causing an issue

but apart from that im looking for suggestions

cheers James

global closing/opening is a standard feature on these cars.have you checked all fuses?

if its working from using the key but not from the switch, then i would rule out any problems with the motors,

so that brings you back to a wiring fault?

have you checked the wires from the actual switches?

just a thought,if yours is a mk1 have you checked under your passenger seat for a swimming pool?

Check the wiring looms between doors, common fault plenty on here about how to check and repair.

update on this... I changed the switches, checked all the wiring in both door looms, checked the wiring in the multi plug at the doors, then I changed car.. the aftermarket alarm decided to melt its wiring which in turn melted the fuse box.. so I think there was maybe an underlying problem elsewhere. so I bought a Mk1 seat Alhambra with a knackered engine. so im in the middle of that the now. on the plus side the Alhambra is better specked and everything works
